Small area of disputed territory, 0.6 mi/1 km
long, between Eilat (Israel) to the east and
the Sinai Desert (Egypt) to the west on the
Red Sea. Under an Anglo-Egyptian-Turkish
agreement 1906, the border ran through Tabah;
under a British survey of 1915 headed by T E
Lawrence (of Arabia, who made `adjustments'
allegedly under British government orders) it
runs to the E. Taken by Israel 1967, Tabah
was returned to Egypt 1989.
